February 18, 2011 - NATA 4 by 4 Results
Congratulations to two of Apex/JEI four-person teams to receive 1st and 3rd place in the 2011 Four-by-Four Competition, a national mathematics contest administered by National Assessment & Testing. The 4 by 4 competition in which teams of four participated in ten three-minute rounds in which they attempted to answer four questions. The team of Jiheum Yeom, Ryan Jiang, Michael Wornow, and Jackson Stenger placed first, while the team of Jackie An, Eugene Gil, and Frank Lee placed third. Great Job!

National Assessment and Testing has released the results of Fall Startup Event contest held on September 23th. Three students from Apex College Prep ranked nationally. Jiheum Yeom, 8th grader, was ranked 12th nationally in the middle school division, followed by Eugene Gil, 8th grader, in 20th place and Jackie An, 8th grader, in 23rd place.

#1 China, #2 Russia, #3 USA, #4 South Korea, #5 Kazakhstan, #6 Thailand, #7 Japan, #8 Turkey, #9 Germany, #10 Serbia
High School Math Team from USA wins 3 Gold Medals, 3 Silver Medals at the 2010 IMO held in Astana, Khazakhstan, July 2-14, 2010
The 2010 International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) for high school-age students determined the medal winners today. Overall, the six members of the USA team won 3 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals. The USA team ranked 3rd among all 96 participating countries in total points (the People's Republic of China was this year's overall winner, with the Russian Federation placing second). The International Mathematical Olympiad has 6 difficult problems solved over two days of competitions. Each problem is worth 7 points for a total of 42 points.
- Calvin Deng, a student at William G. Enloe High School in Cary, North Carolina, earned a silver medal with 26 points. - Benjamin Gunby, of Potomac, MD and a student at Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC, earned a gold medal with 27 points. - Xiaoyu He, a student at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Acton, Massachusetts, earned a gold medal with 28 points. - In Sung Na, a student at Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan in Old Tappan, New Jersey, earned a silver medal with 25 points. - Evan O'Dorney, homeschooled at Venture School in Danville, California, earned a gold medal with 39 points. - Allen Yuan, a student at Detroit Country Day School in Farmington, Michigan, earned a silver medal with 23 points.
